(CALL FOR RYSE MENTORS)
Hi everyone!
Would you like to support young people from underserved communities to become successful entrepreneurs? Do you enjoy sharing your experiences and knowledge?
Come join us as a RYSE Mentor! We are looking for experienced individuals with a desire to give back to the community to be mentors to our RYSE participants.
What is RYSE?
RYSE stands for the Rapid Youth Success Entrepreneurship program. It is a research project embedded within a social outreach project aimed at improving youth unemployment rates and increasing the economic mobility of low-income youth in Malaysia by equipping them with the skills to plan, design, and run their own startup from scratch. These 400 youth are all members of the B40 in Klang Valley (B40 = the bottom 40% of the income distribution in this country). This project is generously funded by Citi Foundation International, and is implemented in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia. The project will be conducted over a span of 6 months. Throughout this time, participants will also be paired with an experienced mentor to enhance their time at RYSE.
Role and responsibilities:
What can you gain from RYSE?
We do not have the funds to pay you in monetary terms, unfortunately, so this will be on a volunteer basis. Aside from the personal satisfaction of helping out youth in need, you will also receive a certificate of acknowledgement from ASB and Citi Foundation. Furthermore, you can add a very nice line on your CVs! :-)
If you’re interested, please read the information pack here: in its entirety to find out more about the program, commitment, and selection criteria. Please email Candee Chee, the Program Manager for RYSE (candee.chee@asb.edu.my) for any additional question you might have.
We really hope to get you onboard! Please sign up at this link (https://bit.ly/2NCQ3XC) before the 15th of March 2019!

This year, I am launching a research project on matching theory and entrepreneurship amongst low-income students at 4 local polytechnic institutions, funded by Citi Foundation International, and in collaboration with the Malaysian Ministry of Education. The program is called Rapid Youth Success Entrepreneurship (RYSE). I'm very excited (and nervous!). Will update this page with more details soon. #upwardmobility
